  • Pop in your login details to get to your dashboard.

Step 2: Open Your Workspace

  • From the dashboard, pick the workspace that has the API you want to work on.
  • Click on the workspace name to open it up.

Step 3: Access the API Manager

  • In the chosen workspace, look at the left sidebar and find the API section.
  • Click on API Endpoints to see the list of endpoints for your API.

Creating a New API Version

Step 4: Create a New Version

  • At the top right of the API Endpoints page, click on the Versions tab.
  • Select Create Version.
  • Give it a name and a short description so you can tell it apart from other versions.
  • Click Create to get the new version going.

Step 5: Switch Between Versions

  • Under the Versions tab, you'll see a list of your API versions.
  • Click on the version you want to switch to. That version will now be the active one.
  • Any changes you make now will only affect this version.

Editing API Changes in a Specific Version

Step 6: Modify Endpoints

  • In the selected version, go back to the API Endpoints tab.
  • Edit, add, or delete endpoints as needed. Test your changes thoroughly within this version.

Managing Version History

Step 7: View Version History

  • To see what changes were made in different versions, go back to the Versions tab.
  • Click on View History next to the version you want to check out.
  • This lets you see what changes were made, who made them, and any notes attached to those changes.

Releasing a Version

Step 8: Publish a Version

  • Once you're happy with the changes, you can make this version the default one.
  • Click on the three dots (more options) next to your version and select Set as Default.
  • Confirm your choice to publish this version as the active API.

Step 9: Deprecated Versions

  • If an older version is no longer needed, you can deprecate it.
  • Go to the Versions tab, click on the three dots next to the old version, and select Deprecate to mark that this version shouldn't be used anymore.

Rollback to Previous Versions

Step 10: Rollback if Necessary

  • If the new version has issues or bugs, you can go back to a previous version.
  • In the Versions tab, click on the version you want to revert to.
  • Click on the three dots and select Set as Default to roll back to this version.

By following these steps, you can manage Xano's version control for API changes effectively, ensuring smooth transitions and reliable updates.
