Data masking is a nifty way to keep sensitive info safe by making it unreadable. Xano lets you mask those confidential fields in your database, so prying eyes can't see them.
First things first, log into your Xano account. Once you're in, pick the project where you want to set up data masking.
Take a good look at your database schema. Find those fields with sensitive info like Social Security Numbers (SSNs), credit card details, passwords, and personal identifiable information (PII).
In your Xano project dashboard, click on the Database tab on the left-hand menu. This will bring you to the database settings where you can tweak your data tables.
Pick the table with the sensitive fields you found earlier. Click on the Edit Table button, usually a pencil icon next to the table name.
In the table editor, find the sensitive field and click on the Edit Field button. Look for an option called Data Masking or Mask This Field. Toggle it on. You can choose the masking character (like an asterisk '*') and how the data should look when masked.
