How to use Webflow’s CMS to create a dynamic FAQ section?

Step 1: Create a CMS Collection

  1. Head over to the Webflow Designer.
  2. On the left side, find and click the "CMS Collections" icon.
  3. Hit the "+ New Collection" button.
  4. Name this new collection "FAQs".
  5. Add the fields you need:
    • Add a "Question" field as Plain Text.
    • Add an "Answer" field as Rich Text.
  6. Click the "Create Collection" button.

Step 2: Add Content to Your CMS Collection

  1. Go to the "Collections" panel where your FAQs collection is listed.
  2. Click on the collection to open it.
  3. Click the "+ New FAQ" button to add a new entry.
  4. Fill in the "Question" and "Answer" fields with your FAQ content.
  5. Repeat to add more FAQ items as needed.
  6. Publish the collection once all entries are added.

Step 3: Design the FAQ Section

  1. In the Designer, add a new section where the FAQ will be displayed.
  2. Add a Collection List element to the page.
  3. Bind this Collection List to the "FAQs" collection.
  4. Within the Collection Item, add text blocks for the question and the answer:
    • Click on the + icon inside the Collection Item.
    • Choose a Heading or Text Block element for the question.
    • Link the text block to the "Question" field from the FAQs collection.
    • Add a Rich Text element for the answer.
    • Link the Rich Text block to the "Answer" field from the FAQs collection.
  5. Style your Collection Item as preferred using the Webflow Designer tools.

Step 4: Add Interactivity (Optional)

  1. To enhance UX, implement a simple behavior such as toggling the answer's visibility.
  2. Add a div block around the answer text.
  3. Set this div block's initial visibility to hidden (display: none).
  4. Use the Interactions panel to add a click interaction:
    • Select the question text block.
    • Go to the Interactions panel.
    • Create a new Click interaction.
    • Set the action to toggle visibility of the answer's div block.

Step 5: Test and Publish

  1. Preview your page to ensure everything behaves as expected.
  2. Check that each FAQ displays correctly and that any interactions work smoothly.
  3. Make any necessary adjustments in design or content.
  4. Once satisfied, publish the site to make the dynamic FAQ section live.
