How to use Google Tag Manager in WeWeb?

Set Up a Google Tag Manager Account

  • Head over to the Google Tag Manager website.
  • Click on "Start for free" to get things rolling.
  • Pop in your account name, country, and container name.
  • Pick "Web" as your target.
  • Hit "Create" and agree to the terms of service.

Obtain the GTM Container ID

  • Once your container is set up, you'll get a unique GTM Container ID (like GTM-XXXXXX).
  • Find the "Install Google Tag Manager" code snippet that has your Container ID.

Access WeWeb Editor

  • Log into your WeWeb account.
  • Open the project where you want to use Google Tag Manager.

Go to Settings

  • On the left sidebar, look for the "Settings" menu.
  • Click on it to open up the project settings.

Add GTM Code to WeWeb

  • In the Settings menu, find the "Custom Code" or "Head" and "Body" sections.
  • Copy the GTM container snippet from Google Tag Manager.
  • Paste the first part of the GTM code in the "Head" section.
  • Paste the second part in the "Body" section, right after the opening <body> tag.

Save and Publish

  • Save the changes in the custom code section.
  • Publish your WeWeb site so the GTM code can start working.

Verify Implementation

  • Use the Google Tag Assistant extension or the "Preview" mode in Google Tag Manager to make sure the tags are firing correctly.
  • Check your website to confirm that Google Tag Manager is up and running.

  • Go back to your Google Tag Manager dashboard.
