How to use Glide’s visibility conditions for components?

Step 1: Open the Glide App

Make sure you've got your Glide app project open. It can be a fresh new project or one you've been working on where you need to tweak the visibility of some components.

Step 2: Select the Component

Find the component you want to control. It could be an image, a button, a text box, or any other UI element. Click on it to get to its settings.

Step 3: Access Component Settings

After selecting the component, open the settings panel. You'll usually find this on the right side of the Glide interface.

Step 4: Locate Visibility Settings

Scroll through the options until you find the "Visibility" section. This is where you can control when the component should be visible to users.

Step 5: Define Visibility Conditions

Click the "+ Add Condition" button to start setting up the conditions. This lets you control when the component will show up based on different criteria.

Step 6: Choose the Condition Type

Pick the type of condition you want. Usually, you have options like:

  • User-specific: Conditions based on the user's profile or characteristics.
  • Screen-specific: Conditions based on the properties of the current screen.

Step 7: Set Condition Parameters

After choosing the condition type, you'll need to set the parameters. For example, if it's User-specific:

  • User Profile Field: Choose the field (e.g., User Role)
  • Operator: Set an operator (e.g., Is, Is Not)
  • Value: Define the value (e.g., Admin, User)

Step 8: Add Multiple Conditions (if necessary)

You can add multiple conditions and set them to AND (all conditions must be true) or OR (any condition must be true) logic.

Step 9: Preview the Changes

Preview the changes by entering different user roles or screen states to make sure the visibility conditions work as you want them to.

Step 10: Save the Settings

Once you're sure the component is visible or invisible based on the conditions you've set, save the settings.

Step 11: Test the App

Finally, give the app a thorough test to confirm that the component visibility behaves as expected under various conditions and user scenarios.
