How to use Glide’s segment visibility for user segments?

Step 1: Access Glide App Builder

First things first, log into your Glide account. Once you're in, pick the app where you want to set up segment visibility.

Step 2: Open Layout Editor

Now that you're inside the app, click on the 'Layout' tab. This will open up the layout editor, where you can see how your pages are put together.

Step 3: Select the Component for Segmentation

Find the component or screen you want to show or hide for different user segments. Click on it to start editing its properties.

Step 4: Access Visibility Settings

In the editing panel, look for the 'Visibility' section. You'll usually find it below the 'General' and 'Data' sections.

Step 5: Set Visibility Conditions

Under 'Visibility', you'll see an option to add conditions. Click ‘Add Condition’ to set up the rules for when this component should be visible based on user segments.

Step 6: Define User Segments

In the condition settings, define your user segments. This could be based on user roles, custom profile data, subscription status, or any other attribute you have in your user data.

Examples:

  • To show a component to admin users: Role is Admin
  • To show a component to users with a specific email domain: Email contains @company.com

Step 7: Save and Preview

After setting up the visibility conditions, save your changes. Use the 'Preview as' function to see how the app looks and works for different user segments. Check if the visibility conditions are doing their job.

Step 8: Publish Changes

If everything looks good in preview mode, go ahead and publish your changes. This will make the segmentation live for all users based on the criteria you set.

Step 9: Monitor and Adjust

Keep an eye on how users interact with the segmented components. Make any necessary tweaks in the visibility settings to keep everything aligned with your app's goals and user needs.
