How to use Glide’s map component?

Step 1: Open Your Project

First things first, log into the Glide dashboard. Find the project where you want to add that nifty map component.

Step 2: Access the Layout Editor

Once you're in your project, head over to the screen where you want the map. Open up the "Layout" editor to start tweaking the elements on this screen.

Step 3: Add a New Component

Hit the "Add Component" button in the Layout editor. A menu will pop up with a bunch of different components you can add.

Step 4: Select the Map Component

Scroll through the list of components until you find the "Map" one. Click on it to add it to your screen. Easy peasy.

Step 5: Configure Data Source

Now that you've got the map component, you need to set up its data source. Pick the sheet or table that has the data you want to show on the map.

Step 6: Set Up Location Data

To make sure the map displays correctly, you need to specify the columns with your latitude and longitude data. Go to the map settings and select the right columns for "Latitude" and "Longitude."

Step 7: Customize Map Settings

Time to make the map your own:

  • Map Style: Choose between default, satellite, or terrain views.
  • Initial Zoom Level: Set how zoomed in the map is when users first see it.

Step 8: Add Markers

If you've got multiple locations in your data, the map will automatically place markers for each one. You can even customize these markers with different icons or colors if you want.

Step 9: Test the Map

Preview your app to make sure the map component is working right. Check if all the locations show up and that the map is interactive.

Step 10: Save and Publish

Once everything looks good, save your changes and publish your app. Now, the map component will be live and ready for your users to explore.
