How to use Adalo's text input field properties?

Step 1: Open Adalo and Create a New Project

  1. Head over to the Adalo website and log in to your account.
  2. Click on "Create New App".
  3. Pick the type of app you want (Native Mobile App or Web App) and hit "Next".
  4. Give your project a name and either choose a template or start from scratch.
  5. Click "Create" to get your new project rolling.

Step 2: Add a Text Input Field

  1. Open the component library by clicking on the "+" icon on the left.
  2. Scroll down until you find the "Forms & Inputs" section.
  3. Drag the "Text Input" component into your app screen.

Step 3: Configure Basic Properties

  1. Click on the Text Input field to open its properties panel on the left.
  2. Under the "Content" tab, give your text input a name in the "Name" field.
  3. Set the "Placeholder" text, which will show up in the input field before the user types anything.
  4. Choose the "Input Type" (like text, number, email, etc.) based on what you need.
  5. If you want, you can add a default value that will be pre-filled in the text input field.

Step 4: Design and Style the Text Input

  1. Switch to the "Design" tab in the properties panel.
  2. Adjust the "Font Size" and "Font Weight" to fit your design.
  3. Set the "Text Color" for the input text.
  4. Customize the "Placeholder Color" to make it stand out from the actual input text.
  5. Change the "Background Color" and "Border" settings as needed to match your app’s theme.

Step 5: Add Advanced Properties

  1. Go to the "Advanced" tab in the properties panel.
  2. Turn on "Auto Focus" if you want the text input to be selected automatically when the screen loads.
  3. Use the "Character Limit" setting to restrict the number of characters a user can enter.
  4. Toggle "Password" to hide the input text if the field is meant for password entry.
  5. Use the "Custom Validation" options to make sure the entered data matches your criteria.

Step 6: Set Actions Based on Input

  1. Click on the yellow lightning bolt icon to open the "Actions" panel.
  2. Choose an action, like linking to another screen, saving data, or showing an alert.

  4. Save and close the actions panel.

  1. Click the "Preview" button at the top of the screen to open the app preview.
