How to use Adalo's pie chart component?

Step 1: Add the Pie Chart Component

First things first, head over to the Adalo components marketplace. You can find it by clicking the '+' icon in the left sidebar. Type 'Pie Chart' in the search bar, click on it, and then hit 'Add Component' to bring it into your Adalo project.

Step 2: Drag and Drop the Pie Chart

Now that you've got the Pie Chart component, go back to your screen in the Adalo design view. Just drag the Pie Chart from the components list on the left and drop it right where you want it on your screen layout. Easy peasy.

Step 3: Set Data Source

Click on the Pie Chart component you just added. Over on the right-hand properties panel, go to the 'Data' tab. Here, you'll pick the data collection you want the pie chart to show off.

Step 4: Configure Data Set

In the 'Data' settings:

  • Label Field: Choose the field from your collection that you want to use as the label for each slice of the pie.
  • Value Field: Pick the numeric field that represents the values that will determine the size of each slice.
  • Color Field: If you want, you can also specify a field to set the colors of the pie slices.

Step 5: Customize Appearance

Hop over to the 'Styles' tab in the properties panel. Here, you can tweak the colors, size, and display settings to match your app's look and feel. You can even set custom colors for each slice if you didn't already specify a color field.

Step 6: Configure Filtering (Optional)

If you need to filter the data shown on the pie chart, you can add filters in the 'Data' tab. This can be done by setting conditions or dynamic filters based on user input. It's like giving your pie chart a little extra brainpower.

Step 7: Preview and Test

Hit the preview button to see your pie chart in action. Make sure it correctly visualizes the data from your collection and that all slices display properly based on your settings. Tweak as needed.

Step 8: Publish Changes

Once you're happy with how the pie chart looks and works, publish your changes to make it live in your Adalo app. Be sure to test it thoroughly on different devices if needed.
