Step 1: Set Up Firebase Project

  1. Head over to the Firebase Console.
  2. Click "Add Project" and just follow the steps to create a new Firebase project.
  3. Once you're done, go to the project dashboard.

Step 2: Register Your App with Firebase

  1. Click the Web icon to register a web app.
  2. Follow the prompts, give your app a nickname, and then hit Register app.
  3. Firebase will give you your Firebase SDK configuration; make sure to copy it for later.
  4. Click Continue to the console.

Step 3: Enable Google Sign-In in Firebase Authentication

  1. Go to the Authentication section in your Firebase project dashboard.
  2. Click on the Sign-in method tab.
  3. Find Google and turn it on.
  4. Make sure the email is selected as an identifier.
  5. Save those settings.

Step 4: Configure Your App for Firebase

  1. Create an index.html file in your project directory.

  2. Add Firebase SDKs to your index.html:
    ```html
    ```

  3. Initialize Firebase in your JavaScript file (e.g., app.js):
    ```javascript
    // Firebase configuration
    const firebaseConfig = {
    apiKey: "",
    authDomain: ".firebaseapp.com",
    projectId: "",
    storageBucket: ".appspot.com",
    messagingSenderId: "<YOUR_MESSAGING_SENDER_ID>",
    appId: ""
    };
    // Initialize Firebase
    firebase.initializeApp(firebaseConfig);
    ```

Step 5: Implement Google Sign-In

  1. Add a Google Sign-In button to your index.html:
    ```html
    ```

  2. Implement the sign-in functionality in your app.js:
    ```javascript
    // Get the sign-in button element
    const signInBtn = document.getElementById('googleSignInBtn');
    signInBtn.addEventListener('click', () => {
    var provider = new firebase.auth.GoogleAuthProvider();
    firebase.auth()
    .signInWithPopup(provider)
    .then((result) => {
    var user = result.user;
    console.log('User Info:', user);
    })
    .catch((error) => {
    console.error('Error during sign-in:', error);
    });
    });
    ```

Step 6: Test Your Set-Up

  1. Open the index.html file in a web browser.
  2. Click the "Sign in with Google" button.
  3. A Google Sign-In popup should appear.
  4. If everything goes well, the user info will be logged to the console.
