How to set up database connections in WeWeb?

Step 1: Access Your WeWeb Project

Alright, first things first. Log in to your WeWeb account and head over to the project where you need to set up those database connections. Make sure you've got the right permissions to tweak the project's settings.

Step 2: Navigate to Data

Once you're in the WeWeb project dashboard, look to the left. You'll see a sidebar menu. Click on the Data tab to open up the data-related options.

Step 3: Add a New Data Source

In the Data section, find and click on Data Sources. There should be a button or link that says Add Data Source or New Data Source. Go ahead and click on that.

Step 4: Choose Database Type

A new window or panel will pop up, asking you to pick the type of database you want to connect to. Depending on what WeWeb offers, choose your preferred database type (like MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.).

Step 5: Enter Connection Details

Now, you'll need to enter the details for the database connection. Usually, this includes:

  • Hostname: The server address where your database is hosted.
  • Port: The port number your database listens on (e.g., 3306 for MySQL).
  • Database Name: The name of your database.
  • Username: The username for accessing your database.
  • Password: The password for that username.

Double-check these details to make sure they're correct.

Step 6: Test the Connection

WeWeb should give you an option to test the database connection before you finalize everything. Click on the Test Connection button to make sure the system can connect to your database with the details you provided.

Step 7: Save the Data Source

If the connection test is successful, save the new data source by clicking on the Save or Add button. This will store your database settings in the WeWeb project.

Step 8: Configure Data Collections

Head back to the Data tab and select Data Collections. This is where you'll set up specific data queries or collections to pull data from your newly added database.

Add a new collection and choose the database connection you just set up. Define the query or table info needed to fetch the data you want.

Step 9: Bind Data to Components

Go back to the project design area and pick the components or widgets where you want to display or interact with the data. Use the data binding options in WeWeb to link your data collections to these components.

Step 10: Deploy and Test

Finally, deploy your WeWeb project and test it in the live environment to make sure all the database connections are working correctly and the data shows up as expected.

These steps should help you set up database connections in WeWeb.
