How to set up conditional visibility for components in Glide?

Understanding Conditional Visibility

Conditional visibility in Glide lets you show or hide parts of your app based on certain rules. This makes your app more fun and engaging.

Step 1: Open Glide App Builder

  • Log in to your Glide account.
  • Pick the app you want to tweak or start a new one.

Step 2: Access the Layout Tab

  • Head over to the Layout tab on the left sidebar.
  • Find the screen with the component you want to control.

Step 3: Add or Select a Component

  • If you haven't added the component yet, hit the + Add Component button.
  • Pick your component from the list (Text, Image, Button, etc.).

Step 4: Configure Component Settings

  • Click on the component you want to make visible or hidden.
  • Scroll down in the settings pane until you find the Visibility section.

Step 5: Set Visibility Conditions

  • Click the + Add Condition button.
  • Choose the field from your data source (Google Sheets, Glide Tables, etc.) that will control the visibility.
  • Pick the condition (like "is", "is not", "contains", "does not contain").
  • Enter the value that needs to be matched for the component to show up. Repeat if you need more conditions.

Step 6: Logical Operators (Optional)

  • Use logical operators (AND, OR) if you need multiple conditions.
  • Click Add Condition to add another condition. Glide will use AND logic by default. To switch to OR, use the toggle option near the condition.

Step 7: Preview and Test

  • Click Preview to see how your settings work in real-time.
  • Make sure the component shows up and disappears as expected based on your conditions.

Step 8: Save Changes

  • Once you're happy with the visibility settings, click Save to apply the changes to your Glide app.

This setup makes your app smarter by showing components only when they matter, making the app more user-friendly.
