First things first, log into the Xano platform. Head over to the dashboard where you'll see all your API endpoints listed.

On the dashboard, find the API group that has the endpoint you want to tweak. Click on it.

Inside that API group, pick the specific endpoint you’re interested in. This will take you to the endpoint configuration page.

On the endpoint configuration page, click on the "Response" tab. This is where you can decide how the data will be structured and sent back to the client.

In the "Response" tab, you can set up a response model. Click "Add Response" or choose an existing one to edit. You can include JSON objects, arrays, and specific data fields you want to return.

Customize each field in the response model. Specify its type (like string, integer, boolean) and add any necessary metadata or descriptions. You can also nest objects and arrays if needed.

Use Xano's built-in filters and transformations to tweak the response data. This could mean renaming fields, changing data formats, or applying conditional logic to get the response just right.

After setting up the response format, use the "Test Endpoint" feature in the dashboard. This lets you see how the data is returned based on your new format.

Don't forget to save any changes you've made to the endpoint's response format. This ensures your configurations are applied and used in all future API calls.

Document the response format in your API documentation. Clearly outline the structure, types, and any custom transformations or filters used. This helps developers who will use your API understand what to expect.
