How to integrate Google Calendar with Adalo?

Step 1: Sign Up and Log In to Adalo

  • Head over to Adalo and sign up if you haven't already.
  • Log in to your Adalo account.

Step 2: Create a New App

  • Click "Create New App" on your Adalo dashboard.

Step 3: Install the Custom Actions Component

  • On the left panel, hit the "+ Add Components" button.
  • Look for "Custom Actions" and add it to your project.
  • This lets you create custom API calls within Adalo.

Step 4: Enable Google Calendar API

  • Go to the Google Developers Console.
  • Create a new Project or pick an existing one.
  • Navigate to "Library" and search for "Google Calendar API".
  • Click "Enable" to activate the API for your project.
  • Go to "Credentials" and create new OAuth 2.0 Client ID credentials. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up the consent screen and authorized redirect URIs.

Step 5: Set Up OAuth 2.0 for Authentication

  • Grab the Client ID and Client Secret from the credentials you just made.
  • In Adalo, configure the Authentication settings using these keys.

Step 6: Create Custom Actions in Adalo

  • Head back to Adalo, open your project, and go to the "Custom Actions" tab.
  • Click "New Custom Action".
  • Name the custom action and set the type to "Create".
  • Configure the request details using the Google Calendar API documentation:
  • Method: POST
  • URL: https://www.googleapis.com/calendar/v3/calendars/primary/events
  • Headers: Content-Type: application/json, Authorization: Bearer {access_token}
  • Request Body: Format according to Google Calendar API reference for creating events.

Step 7: Connect the Custom Action to App Functions

  • In the Adalo editor, go to the component or screen where you want to trigger the Google Calendar Event Creation.
  • Add an action workflow that calls the custom action you made earlier.
  • Pass any necessary parameters like event title, start time, and end time.

Step 8: Test the Integration

  • Preview your app and perform the action that should create a Google Calendar event.
  • Check if the event shows up in your Google Calendar.

Step 9: Troubleshoot if Necessary

  • Check the console and error messages in both Adalo and Google API responses.
  • Make sure the OAuth 2.0 authentication is set up correctly.
