Overview

Collecting user input is super important for making your app better in Glide, the no-code platform where you build mobile apps using Google Sheets or Excel. Basically, it's about giving users an easy way to voice their thoughts and suggestions. To do this, you'll need to whip up custom forms inside Glide, set up specific columns in your spreadsheet to hold all that feedback, and maybe even use emails or push notifications to let you know when there's new feedback. When organized well, this feedback can offer great insights to improve not just the user experience but overall functionality too.

How to implement user feedback collection in Glide?

Step 1: Create a Google Sheet

  • Fire up Google Sheets and whip up a new spreadsheet.
  • Give those columns some meaningful names, like "Name," "Email," "Feedback," and "Timestamp."

Step 2: Design the Form in Glide

  • Open Glide and kick off a new project.
  • Hook up your project to the Google Sheet you just made.
  • Head over to the "Data" section in Glide to make sure all your columns are there and looking good.

Step 3: Set up a Form Button

  • In the "Layout" tab, pick the screen where you want the feedback form to live.
  • Add a new component and choose "Button."
  • Set up the button to open a “Form” when someone clicks it.

Step 4: Configure the Form

  • Give the form a friendly title and description, like “Submit Feedback.”
  • Drag and drop components like "Text Entry" for feedback, "Email Entry," and any other fields you need into the form.
  • Make sure there's a "Submit button" at the end of the form.

Step 5: Bind Form Fields to Google Sheets

  • Select each form field and link it to the right column in your Google Sheet, like mapping the "Feedback" text entry to the "Feedback" column.
  • For the "Timestamp," add a Special Value component and pick "Current Date & Time" to log when feedback is submitted.

Step 6: Customize the User Experience

  • If you want, add a notification or message that pops up to confirm submission, either using the "Custom Action" to show a notification or by adding a message screen that appears after submission.
  • Tweak the look and text of the submit button to make it more user-friendly.

Step 7: Test the Form

  • Hit the "Preview" button in Glide to give the feedback form a test run.
  • Submit some test feedback to make sure the data is getting logged in the Google Sheet correctly.

Step 8: Publish the App

  • Once everything's working smoothly, click on "Share" and then "Publish App."
  • Share the app link with your users so they can start sending in their feedback.

Step 9: Monitor Feedback

  • Keep an eye on the Google Sheet for new feedback entries.
  • Use the data to make smart decisions and improve your app or service.
