Step 2: Create a New API

  1. Find the "API" section in the navigation menu.
  2. Hit the "Create API" button to kick off a new project.

Step 3: Define API Endpoints

  1. In your shiny new API, click on the "Endpoints" tab.
  2. Choose "Add Endpoint".
  3. Set up the endpoint URL and pick the HTTP method (GET, POST, PUT, DELETE) that fits your needs.
  4. Add input parameters if you need them. This could be query parameters, path parameters, or request bodies.

Step 4: Connect to Data Source

  1. Go to the "Data Sources" tab.
  2. Click on "Add Source" and pick the type of data source (like Database, REST API, etc.).
  3. Configure the connection settings, like the endpoint URL for REST APIs or database credentials.
  4. Click "Save" to lock in the configuration.

Step 5: Write Business Logic

  1. Head back to the "Endpoints" tab.
  2. Click on the endpoint you set up earlier.
  3. In the endpoint configuration, write the business logic using the visual data flow editor or custom code blocks.

Step 6: Set Up Authentication and Authorization

  1. Go to the "Settings" tab of the API.
  2. Navigate to the "Authorization" section.
  3. Enable and set up the type of authentication (like API key, OAuth, JWT).
  4. Define roles and permissions if you need fine-grained control.

Step 7: Test the API

  1. Go to the "Test" tab within the API section.
  2. Pick your endpoint and click "Run Test".
  3. Input any necessary parameters and run the test, checking the response for correctness.
  4. Tweak the endpoint logic if needed.

Step 8: Deploy the API

  1. Once testing is done, head to the "Deploy" tab.
  2. Choose your deployment environment (like Production, Staging).
  3. Click "Deploy" to make the API live.

Step 9: Monitor and Maintain

  1. Use the "Analytics" tab to keep an eye on API usage and performance.
