First things first, log into your Adalo account and open up the project where you want to add that nifty search function.

Next, drag and drop a Text Input component onto the screen. This is where your users will type in their search queries.

Click on the Text Input component. Over on the right, in the properties panel, set the Placeholder text to something like "Search...". This gives users a little hint on what to type.

Now, drag a List component onto the screen, just below the Text Input. This list will show the search results based on what the user types in.

Select the List component and link it to the data collection you want to search through. You can do this in the Data settings on the right panel.

With the List component still selected, scroll down to the Filters section in the properties panel. Add a custom filter to make the list update dynamically based on the user's input.

Set the filter condition to match the Text Input with the field you want to search. For example, if you want to search by Name, set it to be equal to or contains the value of the Text Input.

• Click Add Another Filter
• Select the field you want (e.g., Name)
• Choose Contains
• Set the value to the Text Input component by selecting it from the drop-down list

This step is optional but can be really helpful: Adjust the visibility settings of the List component so it only shows results if the Text Input isn't empty. This can make the user experience smoother.

Preview your app and give the search function a whirl by typing into the Text Input. The List should update dynamically to show only the items that match the search query.

If everything's working as it should, save your changes and publish your app.
