Overview

In Adalo, setting up a product wishlist makes shopping way more enjoyable for app users. You'll need a database for wishlist items, and you'll create connections between users and products. Design an interface that simplifies adding and removing items from the wishlist. Important steps include configuring list components to show these items and adding logic to manage user interactions. Using Adalo's drag-and-drop interface and solid database features, you can create a wishlist that keeps users hooked and boosts product interest.

How to implement a product wishlist in Adalo?

Step 1: Create the Necessary Collections

  • Open your Adalo app.
  • Head over to the Database section.
  • Create a new collection named Products with fields like Name, Description, Price, Image, etc.
  • Create another collection named Wishlists with fields:
  • User (Link to Users)
  • Wishlist Name
  • Add a relationship between Wishlists and Products collections:
  • A wishlist can have multiple products (Many-to-Many relationship).

Step 2: Create the Wishlist Interface

  • Go to the Screens section and add a new screen called Wishlist Screen.
  • On this screen, add a form to create a new wishlist:
  • Form fields: Wishlist Name, User (set automatically to the logged-in user).
  • Add a button to submit the form.

Step 3: Display the Products

  • Add a List component to your main screen to display the available products.
  • Populate the List with data from the Products collection.
  • Customize the List items to show the product Name, Description, Price, and Image.

Step 4: Add to Wishlist Button

  • Within the product List component, add a button called Add to Wishlist.
  • Set the action for this button:
  • Navigate to another screen to select the wishlist (create a new screen for this if needed).
  • On the wishlist selection screen, show a List of wishlists tied to the logged-in user.
  • On select, add the product to the chosen wishlist via a custom action.

Step 5: Selecting a Wishlist

  • On the wishlist selection screen, add a list component to show the available wishlists for the logged-in user.
  • When a wishlist is selected, use a custom action to add the selected product to the desired wishlist:
  • Use the Create action to modify the Wishlists collection and link the product.

Step 6: View Wishlist Contents

  • On the Wishlist Screen, add a List component to display the products added to the selected wishlist.
  • Set the filter for the List to show products linked to the chosen wishlist.
  • Customize the List item to show relevant product details like Name, Image, Price, etc.

Step 7: User Experience Enhancements

  • Add navigation options on your main screen to quickly access user wishlists.
  • Include feedback (like success or error messages) after adding items to the wishlist.
  • Optionally, add functionality to remove items from a wishlist by adding a Remove button within the wishlist product list and setting a Delete action.

Step 8: Testing

  • Test the flow by creating a few products and adding them to different wishlists.
  • Ensure users can create, view, add to, and remove from wishlists without issues.

Applying these steps will add a complete wishlist functionality to an Adalo application, enhancing the user experience and engagement.
