How to implement a guest checkout in Adalo?

Step 1: Create the Guest User Collection

  1. Open your Adalo project.
  2. Head over to the "Database" section.
  3. Create a new collection and call it "Guest Users."
  4. Add the fields you need, like:
  • Guest ID (text or auto-increment)
  • Cart Items (relationship with your Items collection)
  • Any other fields that make sense for guest info.

Step 2: Develop the Guest Checkout Flow

  1. Go to the "Screens" section.
  2. Add a new screen for the guest checkout process, maybe name it "Guest Checkout."
  3. Design the layout with the necessary fields, such as:
  • Product list or shopping cart
  • Email, Name, Shipping Address, Payment Information fields

Step 3: Set Up Actions for Guest Checkout

  1. On the Guest Checkout screen, set actions to handle guest data submission:
  • Create a form to collect guest information.
  • Add an action that creates a record in the "Guest Users" collection using the form's inputs.
  • Make sure the cart items are also saved under the Cart Items relationship in the "Guest Users" collection.

Step 4: Enable Checkout without Login

  1. Ensure the guest user form elements aren't tied to user authentication.
  2. Create logic on form submission to direct the guest user to a "Thank You" or order confirmation page.
  3. Connect this to the submission action mentioned in Step 3.

Step 5: Handle Guest Orders in Admin Dashboard

  1. In your Admin screen, include a list showing the "Guest Users" collection.
  2. Set filters to view and sort guest checkout orders.
  3. Ensure the admin can manage these orders just like they do for registered users' orders.

Step 6: Payment Integration

  1. Integrate a payment processor (like Stripe) on the Guest Checkout screen.
  2. Link the payment button to the payment processor and set the necessary parameters to transfer collected data.
  3. Ensure security measures are enabled for handling sensitive payment information, and test thoroughly.

Step 7: Test the Entire Guest Checkout Flow

  1. Simulate a guest user process from adding items to the cart to completing checkout.
  2. Ensure that all data submissions (guest information and cart items) are correctly stored in the "Guest Users" collection.
  3. Verify payments, if applicable, and check the order management in the Admin Dashboard.

Step 8: Launch and Monitor

  1. Once everything is tested and confirmed working, launch your guest checkout functionality.
  2. Monitor the process for any issues or improvements and iterate as needed.
