How to create scrollable prototypes in Figma?

Step 1: Create a Frame

Alright, first things first. Grab the Frame tool by pressing `F` on your keyboard. Draw a frame on your canvas. Think of this frame as the box that will hold all your scrollable content.

Step 2: Design Your Content

Now, inside that frame, start designing the content you want people to scroll through. This could be anything—images, text, buttons, you name it. Just make sure your content goes beyond the frame's visible edges so there's a reason to scroll.

Step 3: Adjust Frame's Overflow Behavior

Next, click on the frame and look over to the right-hand panel. Under the "Constraints" section, you'll find "Overflow Behavior" settings. Choose vertical or horizontal scrolling, depending on your design. This will make the content inside the frame scrollable.

Step 4: Clip Content

Don't forget to check the "Clip content" box in the right-hand panel. This makes sure that anything outside the frame's bounds stays hidden, giving you that neat scrolling effect.

Step 5: Prototype Settings

Switch over to the Prototype tab in Figma. Link your frame to any actions or screens you need. You can also tweak settings like Smart Animate for smoother transitions if you want.

Step 6: Preview the Prototype

Hit the Play button in the top-right corner of Figma to open the prototype preview window. Test out the scrolling to make sure everything works as it should.

Step 7: Fine-Tune

Head back to the design tab and make any tweaks to the content or frame size. Re-test the prototype to ensure all your changes are spot on.
