How to create and use custom middleware in Xano?

Step 1: Navigate to the Middleware Section

Open your Xano workspace.
From the left sidebar, select "Middleware" to access the middleware functionality.

Step 2: Add New Middleware

Click on the "+ Add Middleware" button at the top right corner of the screen.
Give it a name and a short description so you can easily remember what it's for.

Step 3: Define Middleware Logic

After creating the middleware, you'll land in the middleware editor.
Use Xano's GUI or scripting options to set up the logic you need.
Add Input: Specify the input parameters the middleware will accept.
Add Filters/Functions: Use pre-built Xano functions or custom scripting to process the input data.
Add Outputs: Define the output that will be passed to the next middleware or endpoint if applicable.

Step 4: Save Middleware

Once you're done with the logic, hit the "Save" button to store your middleware.

Step 5: Apply Middleware to API Endpoints

Head over to the "API" section in your Xano workspace.
Pick the API group and the specific endpoint where you want to apply the middleware.
Under the "Request" tab, find the "Middleware" section.
Click the "+" icon to add your custom middleware to the endpoint.
Select the middleware you created from the dropdown menu.

Step 6: Test Middleware

Once added, test the API endpoint to make sure the middleware is working as expected.
Use the "Run & Debug" feature to check if the request data is being processed correctly and if the middleware is returning the right outputs.

Step 7: Monitor and Update Middleware

Keep an eye on the performance and output of the middleware through the "Logs" section.
