How to create a slider with dynamic content in Webflow?

Step 1: Set Up the Project in Webflow

  • First things first, log into your Webflow dashboard. Create a new project or just pick one you already have.
  • On the left sidebar, find and click the "Add Elements" button (it’s the + icon).

Step 2: Add a Slider Element

  • From the "Add Elements" panel, drag and drop a "Slider" element right onto the canvas.
  • The Slider will come with some default slides already set up for you.

Step 3: Create Dynamic Collection

  • Head over to the "CMS Collections" panel on the left sidebar.
  • Click "Add New Collection" and give it a name that makes sense (like "Slider Content").
  • Add fields you need, such as "Title", "Image", and "Description."

Step 4: Populate the Collection

  • Add a few items to your new collection. Each item will be a slide.
  • For each item, fill out the title, image, and description fields.

Step 5: Bind Collection List To Slider

  • Go back to your canvas and select the "Slider" element.
  • Click on the "Slider Settings" and connect it with a Collection List using the purple "Get data from..." dropdown.
  • Choose the collection you created earlier (like "Slider Content").

Step 6: Add Dynamic Content to Slides

  • Inside the slider element, find an individual slide and add a "Collection Item" (bind this to the CMS Collection).
  • Drag and drop elements like "Image", "Heading", and "Paragraph" into each slide.
  • Bind these elements to the appropriate fields from the collection (Title, Image, and Description).

Step 7: Style the Slides

  • Customize the look of the slides. Click on each element (image, heading, and paragraph) to style them according to your design needs.
  • Make sure everything looks consistent across all slides.

Step 8: Check Responsiveness

  • Switch to different device views (Desktop, Tablet, Mobile Landscape, and Mobile Portrait).
  • Adjust styles and layouts as needed to make sure the slider looks good on all devices.

Step 9: Preview and Publish

  • Use the "Preview" button at the top left of the Webflow editor to see how the slider looks and works.
  • If you’re happy with it, click "Publish" to make the dynamic slider live on your website.

Step 10: Test Live Site

  • Visit the live site to make sure the dynamic slider works as expected.
  • Test its functionality, responsiveness, and performance across different browsers and devices.
