How to create a RESTful API with custom endpoints in Xano?

Step 1: Log in to Xano and Create a New Project

Fire up your web browser and open Xano.
Log in with your credentials.
Hit the "Create New Project" button.
Give your project a name and a description, then click "Create".

Step 2: Create a New Database Table

Head over to the "Database" section in the left-hand menu.
Click on "Add Table".
Type in a name for your new table and, if you want, add a description.
Click "Create" to finalize your table.

Step 3: Define Columns in Your Table

Inside your new table, click the "Add Column" button.
Define the column name and pick the right data type (like String, Integer).
Add as many columns as you need for your data.
Click "Save" to save your columns.

Step 4: Populate the Table with Initial Data (Optional)

In the table view, click the "Add Row" button.
Enter data in each column for the new row.
Click "Save" to store the data.

Step 5: Create a New API Group

Go to the "API" section in the left-hand menu.
Click on "Add API Group".
Give your API group a name and description.
Click "Create". This will take you to the API group dashboard.

Step 6: Add Custom Endpoints

In your API group dashboard, click "Add API Endpoint".
Choose the type of request (GET, POST, PUT, DELETE) based on what you need.
Provide a path for your endpoint (e.g., /custom-endpoint).

Step 7: Configure the Endpoint Logic

Click on "ADD FUNCTION" to add logic to your endpoint.
Choose from available functions like "Query All", "Insert", "Update", etc.
Map and configure parameters as needed.
Save the changes.

Step 8: Test the Endpoint

Go back to the API group dashboard.
Click on the endpoint you created to open its details.
Use the "Try It Out" feature to test your endpoint.
Enter parameters and execute the request to see the response.

Step 9: Publish Your API

Navigate to the "Settings" tab within the API group.
Toggle the “Published” switch to make your API available.
Note the base URL provided for your API group for use in your application.

Step 10: Documentation and Versioning (Optional)

Use the "Documentation" tab to auto-generate documentation for your API endpoints.
Keep track of different versions of your API by using the "Versioning" feature in Xano.
