How to create a project management tool in Adalo?

Step 1: Set Up Your Adalo Account

  1. Head over to the Adalo website and either sign up for a new account or log in if you already have one.
  2. Once you're in, click on the "Create New App" button.

Step 2: Choose a Template or Start from Scratch

  1. Adalo has a bunch of templates, but let's go with "Start from Scratch" for full customization.
  2. Decide if you want a mobile or web app, then hit "Next".

Step 3: Define Your Database

  1. Click on the "Database" tab on the left side of the screen.
  2. Create collections for your project management tool. Essential collections might include:
  • Users: For storing user info.
  • Projects: Details about different projects.
  • Tasks: Info related to tasks under each project.
  • Teams: For team-related info if you're working in groups.
  1. Define the attributes for each collection. For example:
  • Users: Name, Email, Password.
  • Projects: Project Name, Description, Start Date, End Date, Assigned Users.
  • Tasks: Task Name, Description, Due Date, Assigned Users, Status (e.g., To Do, In Progress, Done).

Step 4: Design the User Interface

  1. Go to the "Pages" tab on the left side.
  2. Click on "Add new screen" and select the “Blank” option to start creating the screen layout for your app.
  3. Create the necessary screens such as:
  • Home Screen: A dashboard to overview projects and tasks.
  • Project Detail Screen: To show details related to a specific project.
  • Task Detail Screen: To manage individual tasks.
  • User Profile: For user-specific data and settings.

Step 5: Add Components

  1. Drag and drop components like Text inputs, Buttons, Lists, and Navigation from the left panel to your screens.
  2. Set up form components for user input, such as creating a new project or task.
  3. Use lists to display projects and tasks. Set the source data to the relevant collection (e.g., Projects or Tasks).

Step 6: Set Up User Authentication

  1. Drag the "Sign Up/Log In" form component onto the screen to allow users to create accounts and log in.
  2. Link the forms to the "Users" collection and ensure proper navigation post-authentication (e.g., redirecting to the Home Screen).

Step 7: Create Relationships Between Collections

  1. Set up relationships among collections for interconnected data management:
  • Link Projects to Users: To allow project assignment to multiple users.
  • Link Tasks to Projects: To connect tasks to their respective projects.
  • Link Tasks to Users: To assign tasks to specific users.

Step 8: Implement Workflows and Actions

  1. Define actions for user interactions like button clicks:
  • On form submission, set an action to create a new project/task in the database.
  • Use “Create”, “Update”, and “Delete” actions for database management.
  1. Set up navigation actions to switch between screens upon user actions.

Step 9: Test Your App

  1. Use the preview option to test the app functionalities.
  2. Ensure that all navigation, data inputs, and collections interactions work as expected.

Step 10: Publish Your App

  1. Once you're happy with the app, click on the "Publish" button in the top-right corner.
  2. Follow the instructions to publish your app either as a web application or generate builds for mobile platforms.

That's it! Now your project management tool is live and ready to use.
